About
Zuya Yang is a lens-based artist and publisher based in Hong Kong. Her practice examines landscape as an ongoing process emerging from the entanglement of human actions, non-human agencies, historical forces and cultural paradigms. She employs photographic processes as a form of slow reconnaissance, tracing and using aesthetic as a clue to tackle the invisible and ephemeral layers of the everyday façade. This approach questions systemic abnormalities as she negotiates her own embodied experience in a perceptual and self-referential manner. Her publishing practice engages with these underrepresented geopolitics, transnational feminist constellations, postcolonial solidarity and diaspora. She hopes to nurture a liminal space for interdisciplinary and collective dialogue, where these practices are grounded in community engagement and artistic production.
She holds a BFA in Photography from the Rhode Island School of Design.
She co-founded zug press with Zhu Gaocanyue in 2024.
